FallProof™ Balance & Mobility Program
Falls are the leading cause of accidental injury in older adults. O'Connor Woods is the only retirement community in San Joaquin Country that has a FallProof Balance and Mobility Specialist on staff. Our Fitness/Wellness Co-Coordinator, Nanci Shaddy is trained to administer the appropriate multi-dimensional assessment tests and addresses both internal and external risk factors known to be strongly associated with increased incidence of falls. FallProof Classes are offered to both residents and the local community who are 62 or older.


Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program
This no-impact exercise is specifically designed for those with arthritis. The movements help decrease pain and stiffness in multiple joints of the body. Gentle stretching is included to increase range of motion and strengthen the joints. Participants improve their joint flexibility and reduce their pain and stiffness while supported by the water's buoyancy and resistance.


Wellness Coaching Program

A Wellness Coach works individually with O'Connor Woods residents over a prescribed period of time. This personal exercise program is customized to maintain the person’s highest functional level at home. The program is designed to include endurance, strengthening, balance and flexibility. If a resident has had therapy, working with the Wellness Coach can help ensure the gains made are sustained. The goal of this program is personal safety for all residents. This one-on-one coaching program is fee-based.
