Virtual Stroke 101 Lecture

Event

Join us for a virtual lecture about recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke.

The Pacific Stroke Association is partnering with The Trousdale to present a virtual stroke 101 lecture.

Thursday, February 18, 2021
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a stroke can save a life and limit severity of stroke.

  • Stroke is a disease that affects the arteries leading to and within the brain. It is the No. 5 cause of death and a leading cause of long-term disability in the United States.
  • About 795,000 Americans each year suffer a new or recurrent stroke. That means, on average, a stroke occurs every 40 seconds.
  • Stroke kills more than 137,000 people a year. That’s about 1 of every 18 deaths.
  • On average, every 4 minutes someone dies of stroke.
  • About 40 percent of stroke deaths occur in males, and 60 percent in females.

Pacific Stroke Association is a local not-for-profit organization whose mission includes reducing the incidence of stroke through education.  PSA Stroke lectures are presented by physicians and nurses.
